Torlon ® is a polyamide-imide resin manufactured only by Solvay Advanced Polymers. Torlon ® is one of the highest performing engineering plastics currently available. It will not melt and can operate continuously from cryogenic temperatures to 500°F (260°C). Torlon ® parts consistently exhibit superior performance in a variety of applications requiring low wear, dimensional stability and long life over a wide temperature range.
Torlon properties include excellent temperature resistance, low friction (especially 4301), dimensional stability (especially 5530), radiation resistance, low outgassing, and good machinability. Torlon ® is typically used to manufacture rotary seal rings, thrust washers and discs, bushings, plungers, wear strips, electronic test sockets, connectors and thermal and electrical insulators.
Torlon ® is available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including Torlon sheets or plaques, Torlon discs, Torlon rods and Torlon tubes of various thicknesses and diameters. Torlon ® is manufactured as unfilled (4203), bearing (4275, 4301), glass-filled (5030, 5530), carbon-filled (7130) and other specialty grades. See our datasheets or call us for more information!
